CASA of Mesa County Supervised Family Time Rooms!
Help us furnish our new Supervised Family Time rooms so children and their families have access to a safe, enjoyable, calm, clean place to visit.
If you've ever met, worked with, or raised a child you know a room can be so much more than a room. It can be a place where they can play, laugh, read a book, or share a snack! For families involved in the court system, supervised family visitation can provide a safe, supportive space to visit each other.
Here in Mesa County, there are few options for families to have supervised family time. These rooms serve families who often arrive carrying tremendous challenges such as, trauma, substance abuse, domestic violence, or other circumstances that have made ordinary visitation unsafe or impossible. CASA of Mesa County wants to help break down the barriers that families face when trying to schedule family visits.
For a family trying to rebuild trust, a space where they can be supported in their care as well as safe and healthy means everything. But creating a welcoming, child-centered visitation room takes more than empty space. Families need comfortable furniture, toys, books, games, art supplies and other items that make the environment feel safe and inviting.
We are asking our community to help furnish these rooms. A donation for these rooms goes much further than your typical donation. It will help create a place where a child can feel comfortable enough to reconnect with their family. It helps a parent or family member create positive memories with their child. It helps transform a potential stressful appointment into an opportunity for connection, healing, and hope for the future.
We invite you to help us fill these rooms with more than furniture, toys, and things. We are inviting you to help us fill this room with community, comfort, and dignity. And to remember that sometimes a room is the beginning of a family finding its way back to one another.
